The lecture notes by themselves are a terrible source of review. If students have the time, they might as well go read a reference textbook.Step 2 CK as an exam is all about the differentials and the ability of students to incorporate diagnostic and treatment algorithms. Therefore as a review material, it is more efficient to review through the incorporation of charts that compare and contrast groups of medical conditions (for example ddx for causes of headaches) and algorithmic flow charts (for example steps for lung cancer screening) rather than review by reading bulk after bulks of text. Furthermore, some parts of the review is completely absent(syncope? fungal infections?). If the student is part of a Kaplan course or live lecture series, the review material may be more relevant; but as a sole source of review, it is extremely inefficient money and time wise.
I used the Kaplan lecture notes for Step 1 and now for Step 2. They are very well written and cover more than enough detail to get you through the exam. Step 2 lecture notes with Uworld questions are top recommendations for Step 2.
Absolutely UPDATED !! I mean whole new pages and charts with extra infos and notes. I just checked the infwctious diseases chapter I was holding the LN 2018 and I was stunned by the new improvements. New medications and guidelines + new infos and medical hints I also noticed a new note in the IBD treatment page. I mean it’s fantastic
