Greatly enjoyed this book, although the year-long diary does get somewhat redundant and drag a bit by November. Despite that, the author's wit, as well as his difficulties in trying to operate an independent secondhand bookshop while competing with online behemoths, make this an interesting book to read. Moreover, his descriptions of the Scottish scenery and Scottish life in general are delightful. The book made me want to take a return trip to Scotland, which I visited many years ago.
Loved this book! Spending the evening browsing in a bookstore is my idea of a hot date with my husband; reading The Diary of a Bookseller transported me to the shops I most enjoy visiting.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The quirky employees, friends and customers that Shaun describes will have you mostly laughing and/ or shaking your head in bewilderment at their antics. Oh, and there's a somewhat strange cat that pops in and out, too. Truly an enjoyable and entertaining book.
