Come on.....Mark Cuban could have gotten a lot deeper, but I guess he just wanted a piece of the book authors club. lol. Basically the book was smaller then usual, (height & width). Without his life experiences the book would have been half the pages theres only 60ish. Then you have several 10-12 note taking pages.....Ok so I can save you some money and sum up the book like this...1. Follow what you like to do 2. Find a mentor and learn all you can 3. Don't Give up 4. Read all you can about what your doing 5. Focus on your project 6. Take Notes, Re read and repeat. LOL I just saved you $9.00
Great read from Mark Cuban!!! First the book when you pick it up feel small and a bit flimsy, but it actually had a lot inside. The text is very small so it actually takes long to read then you think. Mark shared a lot of great information on his background and how he actually made it BIG! The book is written in his style and he gets right to the point. I love the selling advice and the twelve steps for success. If you follow Mark's advice your bound for success. Thank you so much for a great book Mark!The only disappointment was finishing the book. Great read for salespeople, people in management and definitely entreprenuers.
My favorite business, personal growth book ever. I've read/listened to many and I've now got both the Audible and Kindle version where I'm on my ninth pass. So to the point that the impact is heightened. Some parts you've read in other business success books, and other parts you'll find nowhere else, yet all have Mark Cuban's brand of fire and zeal. One to read and re-read for years to come.
I really liked the advice he gave. It is great for both young and old. It is all very motivating especially if you are just starting out in business. I am right with him on his advice regarding sales.My advice to those starting out is keep asking yourself if you should be an entrepreneur. If you slowly find yourself disliking the corporate world, go start your own business. Get a real estate license or some other license where you work for an organization yet you are your own boss.The only thing I didn't like about the book was it read like a blog. But then again, that's what Mark intended it to be - a compilation of blogs.Overall, it was great!
I have been intrigued by this man since I became obsessed with Shark Tank. I could tell there was something more going on inside of him- sometimes the editing on the show can make him off to be careless in his competitive tactics, but I always see the genuine care in his eyes and actions & tone of voice. I can't even count how many times I have seen each episode, studying so that I can earn an honorary STMBA so that I can gain an appearance on the show.Not only are there some great gems of advice, the book gives behind the scenes look at the process of starting out a business. I for one have always been of the "read anything I can get my hands on" education, why pay someone a ton if I can figure it out quickly on my own. If a price is to high, I will research high and low to find a less expensive route. I hope he is "in" with my company, and his advice will help me get there, along with the Shark Tank "Jump Start Your Business" book.
This is the second straight book I've read on Mark Cuban and I enjoyed this one much more than the one from last week.It's not a traditional book, but rather a collection of blog posts written by Mark on his advice for attaining success. I really enjoyed his style of writing and I liked hearing the story from his perspective.What I really enjoyed was hearing about the POS car he drove, the two cheap polyester suits he owned, and when he first started how he slept on a couch or floor in an apartment with a bunch of other dudes. Not sure why, but this part really resonated with me. 😉Mark wasn't born into wealth and earned everything he has by working his tail off amongst the other lessons he shares.The end of the book gives Mark's twelve mantras for success as follows:1 - Time is More Valuable than Money2- Commit Random Acts of Kindness3 - No Balls, No Babies4 - Work Hard, Play Hard5 - Don't Let Fear be a Roadblock6 - Expect the Unexpected, and Always be Ready7 - It's Okay to Yell and be Yelled at8 - Everyone gets Down: The Key is How Soon You get Back Up9 - It's not Whether the Glass is Half Empty or Half Full, it's Who is Pouring the Water10 - It's Not the Dreaming, it's in the Doing11 - Pigs get Fat, Hogs get Slaughtered12 - You Only Have to be Right Once!The book was published in November of 2011. It is but 73 pages but has great content. Amazon has 876 ratings for a score of 4.5. Goodreads has 3,284 ratings for a 4.02 with 247 reviews. While I'm not in 100% agreement with Mark on some of his thoughts and ideas, there's certainly enough value here to give it a strong rating and recommend it. Now, onto the other books from the sharks on my bookshelf!

I loved this book. I left the corporate world in 2001 after being downsized by my employer . I worked at the company for 25 years and it was gone in an instant...I know....familiar story. I was over 55 and lost. I decided to start my own internet retail outlet and, thankfully, have been very successful . I learned many hard lessons along the way and reading this book I felt a kin-ship to everything Mark says about business. I wish I had read this book BEFORE I started my business....I may have avoided some of the potholes along the way. Anyhow I think every young business student and as far as that goes every business owner want-a-bee or even every person thinking about starting a business MUST read this book. I am going to get my 20 year old business school student daughter to read it. I am sure it will help her.
