I'm not much of a history buff his is a great book! Crook gives a lot of personal information about the Presidents and his family. It was very well written, very readable. I enjoyed in particular learning about the Presidents' and First Ladies' personalities. He shared some very fascinating information about events, esp. surrounding Lincoln's assassination, that I hadn't known. I realized while reading that Presidents' have always had great opposition from many and varied sources.
Very interesting book about life in the White House with lesser known presidents, other than Lincoln. A unique perspective.
Great book. Kept me engaged throughout. I love to read about this type of history especially if it comes from a source who was there and witnessed. William Crook did great job laying this out by each administraton.
A wonderful review of early presidents and their families by one who was actually there.an excellent review of those times and people.
