When I started reading this, I was tempted to quit early on. The writing style was not to my liking, really, as it consisted of a lot of short dull sentences, like 'He sat down in the chair.' There was also a lot of telling and not enough showing.Still, as I liked the plot overall, I kept on reading. I noticed that the writing improved a little as the story went along. One plot device was OTT absurd towards the end though.I actually liked the H/h, even though they were a little too perfect.'Word of Honor' gets a weak 3 stars.
This is the story of Geoffrey De Montfort, the hero of the story who has known Merryn Mantle since childhood. Geoffrey and Merryn have one day of blissful marriage, and one night of passion of the extraordinary love they share, when suddenly Geoffrey is wrenched away from his new life and new wife. Geoffrey disappears with no trace for 7 years and when he returns things are different from them. The love is still there, there is so much emotion coming from them, but they need to overcome many obstacles to find their HEA. This story was a captivating roller coaster ride and one I’m sure you will enjoy too!!!
This novel kept me on the edge of my seat! I liked how unpredictable it was, I never saw the dark turn it took coming. The characters were very strong, yet likable and appealing. Their chemistry was powerful and the sexual connection was steamy. I'm glad I found this new author. I am eager to begin the next book in the series. Loved the cover photo too!
Great read. Really enjoyed this book. Why they went through just to be man and wife. True love story!. The honor of a knight must be something. Geoffory really was a strong person who truly loved his wife and children . Good red really enjoyed it. Thanks.
This was the first book , I read by this Author and I am glad I did. I am a great fan of historical romance and this book had it all. Geoffrey's and Merryn's great love and passion for each other brought them through all the horror and trails and separations. Merryn was a strong woman and Geoffrey a great honorable Knight and at the end they had a wonderful life together.It is definitely a book worth reading.
I really enjoyed this story so very much. Lots of angst, sorrow, pain and suffering. Knights of Honor, the heading is fitting. It's a must read
5 Stars - I would have loved to have given a higher rating. Word of Honor is the first book in this author's "Knights of Honor Series". I can say Alexa Aston is a brand new author for me and I am glad I took a chance on her story. I was pleasantly surprised with this incredible story. The plot was very intriguing and it kept drawing me in more and more. That told me, it would be a story I would thoroughly enjoy.This is a story of true love and the possibility of overcoming severe obstacles (individually and collectively). Are too many obstacles stronger than true love or can love truly heal all wounds and triumph?Well, this is the story of Geoffrey De Montfort and Merryn Mantle. These two have been betrothed since they were very young. He is now an English Knight who has battled in France, while she awaits his return. While in France, events occur that will bring danger to Geoffrey... a horrible danger that will change their lives.He returns victorious from battle to wed his lovely betrothed. These two are so happy with one another because what they have is a true love match. The day after their wedding, danger disrupts their lives with a wicked turn of events. Geoffrey disappears with no trace for 7 years and when he returns...he is not the same and things are not the same with Merryn, except for what she feels in her heart. There is so much to overcome and faith is tested.This story encompasses hope, love, true burning passion, despair, honor, faith and true forgiveness.I can honestly say, this story is a keeper for me, one that I wish to keep in my personal library forever.I look forward to book 2 in this series. I hope you take a chance and read Word of Honor.
I could not put this book down! It was the best romance book I read in a long time and the ending didn't disappoint me. I guarantee you will enjoy this book!
